Since 2000, Urban Tech has overseen its Youth Leadership Academy (YLA), which leverages multimedia online learning courses to teach kids and teens essential social and life skills. YLA comprises two program series featuring age-specific learning modules.
Designed for students in third grade and above, the YLA Series Bundle includes nine modules covering everything from team building and conflict resolution to healthy habits, personal appearance, and self-discovery. The bundle also features modules focused on financial literacy and educational planning.
The YLA Teen Health Bundle offers expanded content for learners ages 13 and up. This bundle strives to keep youth healthy and safe by teaching them about topics such as substance abuse and sexually transmitted diseases. The curriculum also offers guidance on how to foster healthy personal relationships.
Over the past 20 years, Urban Tech’s Youth Leadership Academy has reached more than 600,000 students. Research into the program has shown that it has the potential to improve academic performance, self-esteem, and pro-social behavior among students who take part in YLA learning modules.
